10 Telling Signs That You Have Top Producer Potential

You think about it from time to time.

Am I the next top producing real estate agent in my area?

With proper guidance, can I make it to the top like I always dreamed?

Not everyone has what it takes to be a high volume agent. But there are some signs that indicate if you have the potential to be a top producer…

1. You’re a Marketing Master

Marketing is the heart of real estate sales. Good marketing will get your listing sold, assuming it’s priced right.

Great marketing, on the other hand, will get your listings sold fast and continuously bring you new business.

If you understand which marketing methods are the most efficient and offer the best ROI, you are in great shape.

2. You Don’t Limit Yourself

Goal-setting is a great thing and if it’s well thought out, you will reach your objective. However, setting goals can also limit you, because you are only aiming for your target, not beyond it.

You should have some goals to gauge your progress, but you should not stop once you reach them. In real estate, the sky really is the limit.

3. You Have High Self-Motivation

A career in real estate can be grueling at times. And if you want to succeed, you need to have a hunger for success.

You need more than just goals and determination; you need to have a fiery ambition that won’t go out when things don’t go your way. Having this is crucial to make it to the top.

4. You Thrive in Challenging Situations

Being the best isn’t for everyone. Some agents prefer having the easy way out of things, even if it means sacrificing sales and future clientele.

Successful agents are particularly good at finding solutions to selling a challenging home, negotiating with demanding customers, or working a difficult sale.

5. You Have The Spirit of an Entrepreneur

Being a real estate agent is not a job. You don’t get paid by the hour. You don’t get a salary. And you definitely don’t work the same hours day in and day out.

This career is a business. You put in the work, and you get the reward. The more work you put in, the bigger the reward.

Great agents realize this concept from the start. They implement systems to help reduce the work and increase the rewards.

6. You Are Committed

You can’t be a part-time top producer. If you have ambitions to be a successful real estate agent, you have to immerse yourself in the game.

Full-time commitment is the only way to bring in a steady flow of clients and listings.

You don’t have to devote every second that you’re awake to real estate, but once you switch on “work mode”, focus only on that. Don’t distract yourself with social media, unimportant errands, etc.

7. You’re a Problem Solver

No two real estate transactions are alike. Every property and every person is unique.

Somewhere down the road, you will run into problems. If you’re good at taking care of issues and thinking of creative solutions, then you are in great shape to handle a high volume of sales.

8. You Are Personable

Every successful agent is a “people person“. A large aspect of their business relies on their interaction skills with others, from getting leads, to closing sales, to dealing with other agents, etc.

Agents aiming for the top should make others around them feel comfortable about their presence.

9. You Conduct Business Ethically

In the business world, some people are so focused on success that they are willing to do anything to achieve it – even if it means doing the wrong thing.

It’s important to remember that your best interest is not what matters most. Your customers’ best interest should always be your priority as long as it meets ethical guidelines.

The National Association of Realtors’ Code of Ethics can be found here.

10. You Remain Positive

The housing market is always changing. If you plan to stay in this business for a while, it’s inevitable that you will experience some downturns.

During those times it’s crucial to your success that you remain positive while many others call it quits.

If you easily find positive things in tough situations, then you have a mindset that’s wired for success.

These signs are some of the most indicative of future top sellers.

However, simply having these traits (or any combination of them) will not make you a top producer. But constant, proactive action, will.

Remember, success hardly ever comes overnight, but each day you have a choice to bring yourself closer to it.
